AFRICAN FOCUS
Rand Merchant Bank Fixed Income Currency and Commodities (RMB FICC) Africa is responsible for the FICC-related businesses of the FirstRand Banking Group across Africa. We currently have a physical presence in six African countries via First National Bank (FNB), our commercial banking franchise, and the rest of sub-Saharan Africa is covered by a dedicated relationship team based in Sandton.
The in-country treasuries focus on fixed income, currency and commodities and while branded FNB, they also leverage off the RMB brand and expertise. FICC Africa has a thorough knowledge of the African enviroment and are able to transact on a range of products to meet any requests, local or global.

Foreign Exchange (Spot / Forwards / Options), Fixed Interest (Bonds), Money Market, Structured Products and Trade and Commodity Finance and Hedging.
We provide our clients with a dedicated, on the ground treasury client service and aim to understand the client’s business in its totality before providing solutions. This is coupled with support from the FICC Africa head office in Johannesburg. Our top economists compile insightful research on different regions of Africa. We can also tailor the research and reports to suit specific client needs.
We can guide clients based in the UK, India and the rest of the world on how best to do business in Africa using FICC expertise in conjunction with other RMB specialist areas like Project finance, Resource finance, Infrastructure finance and Corporate finance.
